meed Terminology

You will see a lot of words on meed. Here is a complete glossary of what they all mean.
meed
This is the name of our company and of our platform. The word “meed” is actually an archaic English word that means, “the praise you deserve.” We think this is the perfect name for a platform that is dedicated to solving the problem of abandoned loyalty memberships.
Loyalty Program
On meed, this represents the base layer to which you attach content. It is the thing that your customers join to become members.
A loyalty program on meed has:
A unique name
A description
A logo
An industry association for discovery by consumer, e.g. “F&B” or “Health & Beauty”
One or more locations - see below
A unique QR code to enable your customers to scan and become members - see below
Locations
When you create your loyalty program, especially if you use one of our wizards, you will need at least one location to create the program. A location is a shop or restaurant address. Thereafter, you can add as many locations as you like. Locations are tracked in three ways:
When someone joins at a given location
When stamps are earned at a given location
When coupons or rewards are redeemed at a given location
Note: Locations are the primary charging unit on meed, which is entirely free to use until you hit 50 members. To go pro and remove the membership cap, your monthly bill will be based on the number of locations you operate.
QR Codes
These are the heart of meed.
Your loyalty program has two types of QR codes.
A general QR code that, when scanned, prompts membership but is not tied to a location
Location-specific QR codes that, when scanned, track at which location your customer became a member. It is important not to mix those up!
Note: When you upgrade to meed Pro, we will send you NFC tags for each of your locations so that your customers can join with a simple tap.
Campaigns
A loyalty program creates a membership that consumers can join. This generates an empty page in the meed Web App (that’s coming up later), which needs content. Campaigns are that content.
A Campaign can be:
A COUPON that can be redeemed
A STAMP card that you stamp using the meed App, just ike the printed stamp card you might use now
A CHECKIN card where the consumer gets stamps by scanning the same QR code they used to join
A SCAN card where your customers scan their own receipts and get stamps based on a spend per stamp formula you set
A STEP card, also known as a multi-reward stamp card, where rewards are earned on the journey to fill the card
Coupon
A coupon is a redemption that can be redeemed for an advantage, such as a discount or a cash amount. These are sent before the sale to your members.
Reward
This is a redemption that can be redeemed and is sent to your members because they earned it using the stamp card.
Coupons and Rewards are technically the same thing on meed. We differentiate because coupons are given and rewards are earned.
meed App
The meed App is used in-store to stamp your customers manually and to redeem any coupons or rewards that they have in their account. You scan their membership card with the app and then stamp or redeem with a few button presses.
That's meed Terminology!
That's it. Once you know how we use meed terminology, the meed Platform should be easy to navigate.
